...AN EARLY SEASON STORM SYSTEM MAY AFFECT SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA
LATE THIS WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND...

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM CONTINUES TO DEVELOP OVER THE PACIFIC OCEAN
AND WILL APPROACH SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LATE THIS WEEK. THIS STORM
COULD POSSIBLY BRING HEAVY RAIN AND HIGHER ELEVATION MOUNTAIN
SNOWS TO THE REGION BETWEEN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. COMPUTER MODELS
CONTINUE TO SHOW SOME DIFFERENCES REGARDING THE EXACT TRACK AND
TIMING OF THE SYSTEM. THE CURRENT THINKING IS THAT RAIN WILL
DEVELOP ON THE CENTRAL COAST FRIDAY AFTERNOON...REACHING THE LOS
ANGELES BASIN SOMETIME FRIDAY NIGHT. THE RAIN IS EXPECTED TO TURN
TO SHOWERS FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE REGION ON
SATURDAY.

IN ADDITION TO THE RAIN...THIS STORM COULD BRING GUSTY SOUTH
WINDS TO PARTS OF SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA...ESPECIALLY ACROSS SAN
LUIS OBISPO AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES...AND IN THE MOUNTAINS.

ALTHOUGH THE EXACT TRACK REMAINS UNCERTAIN...THE LATEST
PRECIPITATION AMOUNT SHOULD RANGE FROM AROUND ONE HALF TO ONE AND
ONE HALF INCHES ACROSS THE AREA...WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS UP TO 2
INCHES OF RAIN IN THE FOOTHILLS AND MOUNTAINS. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
ARE POSSIBLE AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS.

RESIDENTS OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA ARE URGED TO STAY TUNED FOR
THE LATEST FORECASTS CONCERNING THIS POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT
WEATHER EVENT.
